Welcome Summer!

Hello Friends,

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers in our Restore Yoga School community! I hope everyone had a chance to celebrate the awesome father figures your life.

The Ray family is blessed with one of the best. David is the Ray family rock. He is present, patient, and supportive to me, our boys, and our collies. He is such a gift to us! If you have not met my husband yet, I hope your paths cross soon.

Father’s Day is a tough day for me. I lost my dad in 2020 to cancer, so my heart goes out to all who this day brings up tough stuff. Papa Shawn was a fun-loving, hard-working guy, and I am so blessed to carry his love and lessons with me.

Tomorrow the summer solstice is here, which is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. We will get 15 hours, 11 minutes, and 39 seconds of sunlight in Iowa tomorrow. With the extra sunlight of the summer solstice, we often feel more energized. This makes it a great time to act on personal goals (like getting consistent in your yoga practice)! A great way to celebrate this special day in your yoga practice is to complete Sun Breaths or Sun Salutations. The traditional practice is 108 repetitions. If this sounds overly ambitious, choose a number that means something to you or the goals you are setting out to achieve in the second half of this year!

Sun Breaths – Start in mountain pose (standing tall)

1.       Inhale: reach the arms up

2.       Exhale: forward fold

3.       Inhale: half way lift

4.       Exhale: forward fold

5.       Inhale: root to rise, arms reach up

6.       Exhale: hands to heart center

7.       Repeat

Sun Salutations

There are now class packages available at restoreyogaschool.com! This option is here to support you in creating consistency in your yoga practice. By committing 6 or 12 classes, you can get a great value for each class and incorporate your yoga practice into your week. Consistency is key to realizing the life changing benefits yoga has to offer!
